The
Collection

The Amar Nath Sehgal Private Collection is a repository of artworks and archives of the Indian Modern artist, Amar Nath Sehgal (1922-2007). The collection offers a platform to learn about and engage with the works and time of Amar Nath Sehgal as well as to benefit from our experience and expertise.

Delhi NCR

The Indian Partition forced Sehgal to migrate, leaving behind all that he called his home. His first job as an art teacher at Modern School on Barakhamba road led him to begin his career in the Capital. 1953, 6 years into a new nation, modern India was growing into the largest democracy in the new world and New Delhi has been the epicenter, more so for the arts.

Iconic Sculptures

Amar Nath Sehgal’s oeuvre has been critiqued scarcely for the expansive geographical reach. He travelled extensively in Europe and America to exhibit his works which reaped admirers from all over the world. That said, his artistic style was a unique blend of cubist, expressionist, surrealist and abstract styles of which he’s been often compared to Giacometti and Ernst.
